Community facilities

A community is defined by all the individuals that live, work, and play together to create the fabric of that community. The ability to do these things, live, play, and work, are essential to the existence and growth of the community. Local community facilities are an important part of making this happen.

Recognizing this and then supporting and expanding community facilities results in stronger communities. In Southwest NY this premise is embraced not only by the local communities, but also by the philanthropic community, local business, and the local government leadership.

Evidence of this can be seen in many different ways. The new Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Area is a prime example of the community coming together to strengthen itself. It involved business, government, and philanthropy to complete the project.

Another example is the I-86 Pride program where local communities adopt their interchange area along I-86 and beautify the area. Taking pride in their community and planting flowers and shrubs, these communities have become stronger.

Every community in Southwest NY has a variety of facilities that they provide their citizens. Libraries, senior centers, youth recreation, swimming pools, and ice rinks are a few examples.
