New York State Discover Southwest NY SWNY

Research has shown that it is important to instill good learning habits into children very early. A common and excellent way to do this is through a quality preschool. Living in Southwest NY affords you many choices in preschools. There are public and private, religious and non-affiliated schools available. Preschools are primarily found in the more populated areas, cities and villages. However, it is difficult to find a spot in the region where there isn't a preschool within a 15 minute drive, and many of the preschools have transportation to bus the children to the school right from home.

The Headstart program is available throughout the region. This is a preschool program run through the NYS Education Department. Other publicly run preschools are often operated by school districts. Private preschools must be licensed by NYS and meet strict standards for curriculum and safety. Private preschools are often religiously affiliated with several denominations represented including Catholic, Montessori, Baptist, Lutheran, Zion, and Presbyterian. There are also non-specific Christian preschools.

Starting children off right is important to their future. In Southwest NY your children will have that opportunity in the setting that you choose.
