This can be explored at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, the annual Pow-Wow, and various other festivals and events. Many museums can be found throughout the region, many of which have their own unique collections. The pioneer oil museum explores the early days of prospecting for oil in the area. The Lucy-Desi museum celebrates the life of local native Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz. The Cuba Cheese Museum looks at the evolution of cheese making through the years, and the impact that Southwest NY had on the nation in the cheese making industry.

There are also many local museums, home tours, and historic sites that offer a window into the past at our history and heritage. From the War of 1812 to the Civil War and the Underground Railroad and from train and locomotive builders to timber and furniture, Southwest NY is rich in history.
