Popular Attractions:
Seneca Allegany Casino - This is one of the newest attractions in the area, and it is clearly one of the most popular. This Class I gaming facility offers over 1,700 reel and video slot machines, progressive jackpots, and a whole host of table games. Add in the Thunder Mountain Buffet and you have a real winner.
Allegany State Park - There's a reason that its the single most popular attraction in the region, to the tune of 1,000,000+ visitors each year. Not only is it the largest park in the State, it also offers more activities and opportunities than any other.
Skiing - Holiday Valley is the most visited ski resort in NYS with over 500,000 skier visits per year. Add to the mix the largest private ski resort in North America (Holimont) and three other public resorts (Peak-n-Peek, Cockaigne, Swain) that combined have a couple hundred trails and you have a spectacular variety for your skiing pleasure.
Chautauqua Institution - Attracting better than an average of 100,000 visitors per season, Chautauqua is a mecca for cultural, religious, and higher learning. This is a world renown attraction that nine US Presidents have visited.
Hidden Gems:
Griffis Sculpture Park - In its own right, Griffis attracts 30-40,000 visitors per year. However, this outdoor sculpture park containing works from some of the most famous sculptors, is such a unique experience that it should be on everyone's list of places to visit.
Rock Formations - Between Rock City Park in Olean, Little Rock City in Little Valley, and Panama Rocks, there's a lot of nature to explore. These are places that time has forgotten, where caves and natural formations are there for all to see. Truly an awe-inspiring experience.
Waterfalls - There are more waterfalls than we can even list here. Because of the terrain, most streams contain a waterfall at some point along their path. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are on public land, while others are on private land. Spend a day exploring the various waterfalls and you are sure to have a day filled with breathtaking views and spectacular memories.
