Boating

When summer time heats things up, what better way to spend your day than boating on the open waters of Southwest NY. Whether you want to troll for the next big catch, enjoy the serenity of sailing, or cruise to a party beach, Southwest NY has a place for you and your watercraft.

There are lakes big, and there are lakes small, and everything in between. The largest and most accessible lake is of course, Lake Erie. As part of the Great Lakes system, it offers anything you could want as a boater.

Another popular place to cruise around on a ski boat, jet ski, or sailboat is 40 mile long Chautauqua Lake. Public and private launches are available around the entire lake, as are marinas offering gas and supplies.

If you like to be nestled in the mountains while on the water, then the Allegheny Reservoir is the place for you to be. This 12,000 acre water body, with over 90 miles of shoreline, is created by the Kinzua Dam holding back the waters of the Allegheny River.

Some of the smaller lakes can offer secluded getaways and great fishing hot spots. These lakes include Findley Lake, Bear Lake, Cassadaga Lakes, Lime Lake, Cuba Lake, and Rushford Lake. They each have public launches of varying capacity.

There's nothing quite like the peacefulness that comes with floating on water. Opportunities abound for you in Southwest NY. Come visit our lakes and waterways and see for yourself why the Ospreys and Eagles call them home.
