New York State Discover Southwest NY SWNY

Snowmobiling

Over the river and through the woods a snowmobiling we will go... the modern sleigh ride in Southwest NY. If you like your sled to have a track and a throttle, come join us this winter.

With several smowmobile clubs and associations throughout the area maintaining trails, there are about 1,500 miles of trails open to snowmobilers all across Southwest NY. It is easy to traverse the entire Southwest NY region, including Allegany State Park (over 90 miles of trails alone), that hosts festivities throughout the winter for snowmobilers.

The clubs are supported by the State, which provides grants from funds generated by the registration of snowmobiles. The clubs in turn cut, mark, and groom trails. This results in some of the best trail systems around. Add in the 200+ inches of lake effect snow each year and it's hard to beat.

So next time you want to take the sled out for a spin, stop for some dinner, fill up on gas, catch a band at the local tavern, and then head home, Southwest NY is the place to be. You can do all this and never leave the trail, and then do it all over again for the next several days and never see the same trail.
