children's organized sports

Organized children's sports are available throughout the region. Different sports are offered in different areas, and the more populated areas naturally offer greater variety, but almost any sport can be found. These sports are run by organizations that operate outside of schools.

Baseball and softball leagues are prevalent for all ages and in all areas. Basketball leagues are also popular, as are soccer and ice hockey. Midget football and lacrosse can also be found in many areas. The Seneca Nation organizes lacrosse leagues for children in the area. With the opening of the new JSB Ice Arena in Jamestown, a resurgence of figure skating has taken place. Visit Chautauqua Ice to learn more about their programs and events.

Less common, but still available are track and field, and swimming organizations. These usually utilize school facilities, but remain otherwise independent.

Wherever your child's interests lie, there is sure to be an activity for them. All organizations are professionally operated, and they generally are affiliated with the related national organization (Little League Baseball, Babe Ruth, etc.).
