While motorsports have enjoyed recent success and expanded popularity in the US today, they have a long history in Southwest NY.
Southwest NY plays host to innumerable motorsports events at a variety of tracks and venues.
The most common is dirt track racing with a multitude of tracks and classes competing on a regular basis. There are also asphalt circle tracks for various classes. In fact, just over the border in Pennsylvania, only 5 minutes from Findley Lake is one of the newest NASCAR sanctioned tracks in the country, Lake Erie Speedway.
Beyond racing, other motorsports are also popular. The county fairs often play host to other events. Motorcross, tractor pulls, and monster trucks are summertime stables at county fairs and similar venues.
