Having fun in Southwest NY is an easy task to accomplish. The region offers entertainment for all budgets, all age groups, during all seasons. And remember, we truly have four seasons. Each season has specific things associated with it, so make sure you visit during each of them.
Summertime Splendor - The summer offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. From rodeos and county fairs to hiking and lake fishing. The moderate temperatures and wide open spaces offer plenty of opportunity. There are beaches to comb, lush forests to explore, and festivals to discover. And for the golfer, a wide array of courses including one that is a stop on the PGA tour can be found in Southwest NY.
Fall Fun - The hardwood forests give way to the splendor of fall colors. The vivid yellows, bight reds, and vibrant oranges create a mosaic of color that dazzles in your eyes. By the way, fall marks the start of hunting season in some of the richest territory in the Northeast US. Whether you pursue turkey, coyote, whitetail, or other small game Southwest NY has a trophy waiting for you.
Winter Excitement - Winter opens the door to a variety of outdoor sports like skiing and snowmobiling. It also sees the return of ice skating, bowling, and other indoor activities.
Spring Possibilities - Once the snow subsides the flowers begin to bloom. Spring turkey hunting swings into action with gobbles filling the air. The rainbow trout are running the streams and fly fishermen try their luck. Maple sap starts running and a visit to the sugar shack is in order.
It is nearly impossible to be bored in Southwest NY. Beyond the seasonal happenings, there are many opportunities for anytime fun. The shops, museums, historical sites, and scenic drives are available any time of the year.
